AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. (AHM) has manufactured its ten millionth engine – a 1.8-litre four-cylinder five-valve engine with turbocharger and an output of 165 kW (225 bhp) – into a specially equipped Audi TT police vehicle. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG Production and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AHM has handed over the Audi TT with the landmark engine to the Hungarian police president Dr. László Bene during a commemorative event in Györ, Hungary.

“Sportiness and dynamism, safety and reliable technology – these are the attributes of the Audi TT that the police will cherish,” commented Heizmann. The vehicle, painted in white, was recently produced in Györ and tested in the Wind Tunnel Centre of the Audi Ingolstadt plant (Germany) among other places. A siren was fitted in the radiator grille of the police TT; two front and two rear flashing lights are integrated into the front of the vehicle and the rear window. The vehicle has been provided with an exceptionally narrow light bar. This is being used for the first time in Europe. In order to compensate for the air current generated by the light bar, the Audi TT is equipped with a large rear spoiler.

Audi Hungaria started producing four-cylinder petrol engines in 1994 with a capacity of 800 engines per day. The success generated in the first few years played a decisive role for further expanding the company. This meant that Audi Hungaria has been able to increase production capacity to 6,900 engines per day in the last few years. Today almost 1.5 million four, six and eight-cylinder engines are produced annually in Györ and supplied worldwide to the Volkswagen Group. The engines are fitted into more than 30 models of the Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT and Skoda brands.

AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft., a fully owned subsidiary of AUDI AG and based in Györ, has been one of the principal engine suppliers for the Audi and Volkswagen Groups. In addition to this, the Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster sports cars are assembled in Györ. Audi Hungaria has been Hungary’s biggest exporter and one of the country’s highest-revenue companies for years.
