BMW Australia is set to expand the BMW X6 range with a new diesel variant: the BMW X6 xDrive30d.

The three-litre straight-six cylinder turbo-diesel engine has already available across the BMW range, including BMW’s X5 where it accounts for well over half of all X5 sales in Australia.

Demand for BMW diesels is increasing with the car maker selling more diesel than petrol engines in Australia in 2010 for the first time ever.

Priced at $109,900* the BMW X6 xDrive becomes the new entry model to the X6 range, broadening the appeal of BMW’s big coupe-like SUV line-up.

The X6 xDrive30d boasts 180 kW of power output and peak torque of 540 Nm enabling the SUV to sprint to 100 km per hour in 7.5 seconds.

Like all other models in the X6 line-up, the X6 xDrive30d gets an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

Dynamic Performance Control, which is unique to the BMW X6, is a standard feature on the X6 xDrive30d.

The X6 xDrive30d also features a number of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies including Low Rolling Resistance Tyres, common-rail diesel technology and Brake Energy Regeneration, making it efficient, without compromising power or performance.

The X6 xDrive30d also sees the introduction of a ‘five-seater’ option with a three-passenger rear seat now available across the X6 range for the first time. This fifth seat, incorporating a three-point safety belt, retains a centre armrest and the 60:40 fold-down split of the rear seats remains unchanged.

Despite its competitive pricing, the BMW X6 xDrive30d offers high standard specification including 19” Star-spoke alloy wheels, Sport Seats, Sports leather steering wheel, Bi-Xenon headlights, and Nevada leather upholstery.

A number of innovations from the BMW ConnectedDrive suite of technologies are also featured as standard including Head-Up Display, Rear View Camera with Top View, Professional Navigation, Bluetooth and USB Audio Interface.

High-Beam Assist, Automatic Tailgate and Park Distance Control front and rear complete the premium value package standard on the X6 xDrive30d.

An optional Sports Package will also be available on the new model offering 20” light alloy wheels, a high-gloss shadow line and anthracite roof liner, all for $5,000*.

The BMW X6 xDrive30d is available to order now, with first vehicles expected to arrive in the country in June.

NOTE: * Manufacturer's List Price (MLP) excludes dealer delivery fees and the numerous statutory charges (commonly known as on-road costs). Additionally, please note that all prices, fees and charges are subject to change without notice.
