Chrysler and Jeep® have achieved combined sales of 542 units in July taking year to date sales to 4,159, an 11 per cent increase on last years figure.

The strong result was supported by the continuing success story of the Jeep Wrangler, with sales for the rugged off-roader up an amazing 74 per cent over last year's July monthly total.

The popular Jeep Cherokee model was an important contributor (sales up 31 per cent YTD over 2003) and the bold Chrysler PT Cruiser also helped drive sales, with deliveries up 7 per cent for the month.

The positive trend is reflected globally, with the Chrysler Group announcing a US$614 million operating profit for the second quarter of 2004 for its global operations.

Chrysler is performing well in the US with uniquely styled models like the Chrysler 300C Sedan. The 300C, equipped with Chrysler’s popular V8 Hemi engine, has become America’s “in” sedan since hitting showrooms. The sedan will debut on Australian roads in the second half of 2005.

Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Jeep Australia, said, "The Chrysler Group is enjoying great success with the enhanced product portfolio, and with many of these products on their way to Australia, the future looks bright.”
