Citroen's C5 For 2008

24th October, 2007

2008 Citroen C5 Saloon

Citroen has revealed the first pictures of it's all-new C5, which is set to debut in Australia in the third quarter next year, bringing with it a new style for large sedans and estates, the highest levels of technology, safety and environmental compatibility wrapped in body work that is uniquely Citroen.

“The existing Citroen C5 has been an enormously important vehicle for Citroen in Australia and around the world,” says Miles Williams, General Manager for Citroen in Australia. “It has been central to providing ten years of sustained growth for Citroen in Australia and provided Citroen with a strong presence in the large sedan sector. It has lifted car safety to new levels in Australia and it has introduced a generation of Australian drivers to the advantages, economical and environmental, of Citroen’s advanced diesel engines. With the new C5 technology, safety and environmental compatibility are further enhanced and, as previewed by the C5 Airscape, the new body is quite simply a magnificent blend of dynamism and elegance.”

As a saloon (4.78 m length, 1.86 m width and 1.45 m height) or estate (4.83 m length, 1.86 m width and 1.48 m height), the new Citroen C5 stands apart for its styling and 'personality'. Its lines give it some presence. Inside the car, a well designed cabin and premium materials contribute to on-board comfort. Passengers benefit from a design that makes this new road car a vehicle of distinction.

On the road, the driver will enjoy a driving experience and the passengers are wrapped in comfort. To achieve this, a new Hydractive suspension has been developed, Hydractive 3 Plus, that takes advantages of the latest developments in technology, comfort and safety.

These dynamic qualities are combined with a range of three petrol engines (1.8i 92 kW, 2.0i 103 kW and 3.0i V6 155 kW) and four HDi diesel engines (HDi 80 kW, HDi 100 kW, HDi 125 kW and HDi V6 150 kW), as well as a full choice of gearboxes.

Driving pleasure takes on a whole new dimension with the new C5. The driving position, which resembles an aircraft cockpit, is fully focused on the driver, and features a second-generation fixed-centred controls steering wheel. Clear, concise driving information is displayed on three dials with annular needles, inspired by the aviation world. Well designed acoustics enable the driver to give the road his/her full attention.

The vehicle meets the highest standards in both active and passive safety with ESP as standard, a stiff body structure and up to nine airbags - seven standard and two optional.

The Citroen’s Rennes ISO 9001 certified factory has experience in producing executive vehicles, particularly with the launch of the Citroen C6. This site has made a strong commitment to sustainable development and the environment, and also holds ISO 14001 certification.

Full details of the Australian range of new Citroen C5 models and variants will be released when the car goes on sale locally in the third quarter of 2008.
