11th March, 2012

The Citroen DS3, the French marque’s compact hatch, offers more features, a new engine and a new gearbox for 2012, but at prices lower than at the car’s launch.

More than just a new model, the Citroen DS3 was also the first model in Citroën’s new DS line, a product range consisting of three distinctively styled models that highlight Citroën’s ‘Créative Technologie’. DS3 inaugurates the DS line, with DS4 and DS5 set to launch during 2012.

DS3 delivers rewarding on-road dynamics, a sophisticated and comfortable ride, and the very latest Citroën technology - including a choice of fuel-efficient, environmentally considerate engines.

Citroen DS3 boasts modern looks, with carefully considered design elements like the unique and distinctive ‘Shark Fin’ B-pillar, the ‘floating’ roof and the signature LED strips down either side of the front bumper.

Quality is evident inside the cabin and out. Refined materials such as leather and chrome are applied with precision and care to give DS3 its finely appointed quality appearance.

Providing a unique ownership experience, DS3 offers ‘bespoke’ motoring with a range of personalisation options - to reflect each customer’s individual performance, style and technology preferences. No Citroen DS3 need ever be the same, thanks to the virtually infinite array of different option combinations available. Customers can specify exterior and interior colour combinations, materials, finishes, trims and equipment - even the key fob is tailored to the driver’s chosen body or roof colour for their DS3.

Compact yet spacious, DS3’s neat frame combines nimble dimensions with intelligent internal architecture - offering five seats with a reasonable cabin area and decent boot space (285 litres). The 60:40 split/folding rear seats can be folded down to accommodate larger load items, if necessary.

Confident and connected, the Citroen DS3 is packed with technology to assist and entertain its occupants. The DS3 has an auxiliary socket, a USB and Bluetooth® connectivity. An optional new eight-speaker Hi-Fi system is available.

The DS3 has a five star Euro NCAP rating for occupant protection. Standard safety equipment include ESP, ABS with EBD & EBA, six airbags, a reinforced body structure and child safety restraint attachments.

The Citroen DS3 is offered with two engines, the new 70 kW engine matched to a robotised manual gearbox and a turbocharged 115 kW engine matched to a six speed manual gearbox. Both engines are produced by a joint venture with BMW and offer smooth, refined performance with excellent economy. The new 70 kW has a fuel consumption rating on the combined test cycle of 5.5 l/100 km. The new EGS gearbox offers the choice of manual shifting with the gearstick or steering wheel mounted paddles or leaving the gearbox to change gears of its own volition.

A new Gear Efficiency Indicator - standard on the 115 kW versions - signals the optimum moment to change gear to encourage economical driving.

Citroen DS3 is available in two trim levels: DStyle and DSport.

The DStyle features leather steering wheel, Sports Seats, an MP3-compatible CD player with steering mounted controls, front fog lights, electric door mirrors, cruise control with speed limiter, ESP, six airbags, electric windows, and remote central locking.

The DStyle model also boasts the striking front bumper mounted LEDs, Climate air-conditioning, dark tinted rear windows, contrasting body and roof colours, roof coloured painted door mirrors with a chrome base and 16” diamond-tipped alloy wheels, Bluetooth with USB/AUX ports.

Combining luxury touches with sporty styling, DSport models feature chrome side rubbing strips and door mirrors, a rear spoiler with an integrated third brake light, automatic digital air-conditioning, chrome trim for the grille, tailgate and double exhaust pipe, drilled aluminium pedals and 17” diamond-tipped alloys.

The Citroen DS3 DStyle is priced from $26,990*, while the DS3 DSport is price at $29,990*.
