Sir Jack Brabham to appear at
2005 Melbourne Motor Show

8th March, 2005

Triple world champion Sir Jack Brabham will make a special guest appearance at the Melbourne International Motor Show.

The Australian racing legend and three-time Formula 1 world champion will appear on the all-new Honda stand on Friday 11th March 8.30pm, where he will sign autographs and regale highlights from his 50-plus years in motorsport.

Sir Jack – who released his autobiography late last year– is better known for having raced and defeated the better funded factory teams of Europe on their home turf. Sir Jack was also the first driver in history to win the Formula 1 championship in a car and engine of their own design – the Repco Brabham.

Sir Jack’s links with Honda extend as far back as 1966. That year, Sir Jack gave Honda its first major championship on four wheels when his team blitzed the European Formula 2 Championship in Honda-powered cars. The alliance also sparked a life long friendship between Sir Jack and his then engineer – former Honda Motor President Sir Nobuhiko Kawamoto.

To this day, Honda enjoys an on-going friendship with Sir Jack Brabham. When in Australia, Sir Jack drives an Accord Euro and is a regular VIP guest at Honda events around the world.

The Melbourne International Motor Show runs from 3rd-14th March 2005 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
