Hyundai Obtains Three Personal Bests in June

6th July, 2004

Hyundai’s popularity with new car buyers rose in June with best-ever monthly retail sales achieved by three of its models, Getz, Elantra and Tiburon V6 sports coupe.

Elantra more than doubled its May sales, speeding past a hard charging Getz to finish as Hyundai’s June champion with 1856 deliveries, way ahead of its previous best of 1284 last August and leaping from 7th to 5th in the Small Car segment for the month.

Getz was again second top seller in the Light Car segment with 1612 sales eclipsing its previous best of 1331 in January.

Tiburon’s 73 sales topped its 59 best last December and moved it up to 4th in the Sports Car segment for the month, buyers reawakened to its great looks, V6-only power, electric sunroof and keen price offer.

In the first half of 2004, Hyundai has sold 20,751 vehicles, up 45 per cent year-over-year and held its seventh spot outright.

Hyundai’s share of the total Australian vehicle market rose from 4.2 per cent from May to 4.8 per cent in June and year-to-date moved up to a 4.4 per cent share which by June 2003 was 3.2 per cent.

“Hyundai is increasingly back on buyer’s shopping lists as people compare the excellence, quality and benchmark value our model range offers them,” said Theo van Doore, Hyundai’s Director of Sales & Marketing.
