2005 Jeep Wrangler Renegade Extreme Sport

18th May, 2005

With Jeep Wrangler sales up 72 per cent over last year and the recent limited-edition Wrangler Renegade a sell-out in record time, Jeep has announced the introduction of a second limited-edition Wrangler, the Renegade Extreme Sport, to meet rising demand for the iconic four-wheel-drive.

Thanks to increasing Australian customer demand, spurred on by the recent US free-trade agreement price repositioning and specialised limited edition models, the Wrangler is again in record-setting territory.

First quarter sales in 2005 for the Jeep Wrangler are the best on record.

Jeep also set a new record for Wrangler sales last month when it delivered 100-plus units in four consecutive months (January-141, February-171, March-154, April-112).

On a year-to-date basis Wrangler sales (578 units) have increased by 72 per compared to last year.

Based on the current sell rate, the Jeep Wrangler is poised to overtake the previous full year record of 1,458 sales, set in 1997 – the vehicle’s first full year on sale.

“Following last year’s Wrangler success, we have taken an ambitious approach and gone to great lengths to secure extra stock and extend our factory target to strive for outright yearly record sales and put us ahead of even the first full year of sales results,” said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Jeep Australia.

“With the affinity the Australian public has with the vehicle, especially the specialised Wranglers like Renegade Extreme Sport, we are confident it can be achieved."

“Jeep Wrangler Renegade Extreme Sport, with its additional features offers something even more individual and unique. And with more than $4,000 of extra value for only $2,000 more, it represents outstanding value,” said Jenkins.
