Land Rover Discovery 3 is an all-new SUV making its Australian debut at the Australian International Motor Show on 7th October, 2004. This outstanding new vehicle offers class-leading breadth of capability, innovative user-friendly technology and new levels of interior space.

"A true Land Rover the Discovery 3 benefits from a clarity of purpose and conviction evident from the clean design, to the versatility and outstanding driving experience. Like all new Land Rovers it will be best in class off-road, but also great to drive on-road," said Matthew Taylor, Managing Director, Land Rover.

The all-new Discovery 3 will be powered by a Jaguar-sourced 4.4L 224kW V8 petrol engine, and a 2.7L 142kW TdV6 diesel engine which develops 440Nm of torque – both of which have been specifically tailored to meet Land Rover requirements particularly for off-road usage. Other features include a six-speed ‘intelligent shifting’ automatic gearbox, full-time 4x4, fully independent electronic air suspension and up to seven adult-sized seats.

Smart user-friendly technology includes Land Rover’s new and patented Terrain Response: the driver selects one of five terrain settings via a rotary switch, and the vehicle automatically chooses the appropriate systems to optimise and suit the needs of the selected surface.

Also featuring on the stand are the 05MY Range Rover and Freelander HSE both making their first Australian appearance at the Australian International Motor Show.

Range Rover

05MY Range Rover combines the introduction of a significant update of the vehicle's information and entertainment systems with the release of unique Land Rover features to keep the Range Rover at the leading edge of the luxury vehicle market. An all new fibre optic system replaces much of the existing wiring in the vehicle and allows a range of improvements and upgrades for many of Range Rover's in-car system.

Such features as VGA Touch Screen Interface of all in-car systems, Bluetooth enabled Personal Telephone Integration system, superior Harman/kardon sound systems across the range and Land Rover VentureCam. This new fibre optic system allows the fitment of the unique Land Rover VentureCam - a wireless camera which allows the transmission of real time colour pictures back to the Touch Screen from outside the vehicle to help negotiate difficult off-road situations, also handy for difficult urban parking assignments!

Freelander

Freelander HSE offers a level of luxury not currently offered in this segment of the market, standing it in a class of it's own. The HSE includes additional features such as a full perforated leather interior, rear park distance control, side rubbing strips and distinctive 17" Trek alloy wheels.

G4 Challenge

G4 Challenge is the largest single marketing initiative in the history of the Land Rover brand represented at the Australian International Motor Show with a Defender 110. The special Tangiers orange liveried Defender was one of the vehicles used on the 2003 Challenge.

Candidates from 18 nations will compete in the Challenge, staged in South East Asia and South America. Both remote and urban locations will demonstrate the extreme breadth of capability in the Land Rover range.

Land Rover Australia is currently searching for a special person to represent our nation in the Challenge to be held in October 2005. Potential candidates are encouraged to visit the stand to apply.

Experience Luxury First Hand

Land Rover Australia also offer visitors to the stand a chance to experience luxury first hand on the outdoor 4WD test track. This year Land Rover will have two Range Rover's (1 x V8 and 1 x Td6) available for a demonstration drive around the challenging 4WD track directly outside the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre. An experience not to be missed.
