Mazda Australia’s record sales pace continued last month with 5,010 retail sales, an increase of 463 vehicles or 10.2 per cent over April last year.

The April result makes it four record months in a row for Mazda and puts its year-to-date sales total at 22,641 retails, up 23 per cent on this time last year.

The Mazda 3 sedan and hatch range continued to perform above expectations with 2,390 sales. The Mazda 6 had another great month with 1,176 sales and the B Series sold 586.

Sales of some models were capped by lack of stock. The Mazda 2, now on run out ahead of a heavily facelifted model arriving in July, sold 430 and the flagship RX-8, which has been affected by a temporary production stoppage due to a factory fire late last year, sold 40.

Normal production and supply of the rotary powered RX-8 recommences this month.

The managing director of Mazda Australia, Doug Dickson, said: “Given that we had some models under supply pressure, to again pass the 5,000 sales level this month is an impressive result and keeps Mazda on track for another record year.”
