CLK 240 Latest Addition to Popular Mercedes Cabriolets

Due to increasing customer demand, Mercedes-Benz is about to introduce the 2.6-litre V6-powered CLK 240 to the CLK-Class Cabriolet range in Australia.

The new model, available from April production, will complement the successful CLK-Class Cabriolet family, which consists of the CLK 320, CLK 500 and CLK 55 AMG.

At the time of the stylish convertible’s release, Mercedes predicted sales of 300 units for 2003. Customer demand for the car outstripped initial projections with 561 units delivered to Australian customers to the end of the year - 187% better than expected.

In January and February of this year Mercedes delivered a further 192 CLK Cabriolets to Australian customers, taking total deliveries to 753 units in 10 months, or two deliveries for every day of the year.

“Less than one year on from the successful market launch of the CLK-Class Cabriolet, we are delighted to announce the availability of the new CLK 240 Cabriolet,” said Horst von Sanden, Managing Director of the Mercedes Car Group in Australia.

“Its dynamic lines, refined detailing and impressive specification will ensure that the CLK 240 takes its rightful place in the four-seater cabriolet segment so that more customers can experience the exciting and unique attributes of the CLK Cabriolet,” concluded von Sanden.

Since launch, the 3.2-litre V6-powered CLK 320 has accounted for 68 per cent of Cabriolet sales, followed by the 5.0-litre V8-powered CLK 500 (26 percent) and 5.5-litre AMG-powered CLK 55 AMG (6 per cent).
