Mitsubishi Reclaims Market Share

6th December, 2006

Mitsubishi 380 SX

Three months of positive growth has reinforced that Mitsubishi Motors' sales are steadily growing month on month, underpinned by one of the most complete ranges of quality, value for money vehicles. The November sales figures show a modest but positive growth for Mitsubishi for the month.

In a market that was down 2.6% year-on-year and 0.3% on October 2006, Mitsubishi held its overall market share at 5.4% for November and increased its year to date share to 5.5%.

Triton, for the second month in a row, maintained strong sales with 692 units of the 4x4 sold in the month. "Last month was a record month for Triton and this month's figures show that the newly released ML has a solid foundation and October was not just a one off event. Triton is not only stylish but as a true 1 tonne vehicle, backed with our 5/10 warranty, represents terrific value for money," said Mr McEniry.

The Adelaide manufactured 380 sedans maintained its sales volume for the month with 1,070 sold in November. The recently released Platinum Edition that delivers unrivalled value for money in a vehicle that has both street appeal and award winning technology has been the stand out performer.

"Now that all four local manufacturers have their new models in the market, customers are truly able to compare the vehicles on offer. This is a real positive for MMAL as we have not only one of the most complete ranges of vehicles in the market, we have the best quality and in almost all cases the best value for money. We expect there will be a continuing of the month on month positive growth for all our models, particularly as the new models gain traction in the market," commented an upbeat CEO, Mr Robert McEniry.

Lancer also had an excellent sales month ending the month with 1,502 sales, some 26% up on both the previous month and year on year.

With stocks of the new, technology packed, NS Pajero just reaching dealerships, sales for Pajero are expected to increase sharply in coming months.

"The new NS Pajero, developed in the harsh environment of international rallying, has built into it, much of the technology that has seen Mitsubishi win an unprecedented 11 Dakar events. This year we look forward to making it 12 using the all new MP13 which debuted recently at the UAE Desert Challenge where Pajero's finished 1st and 2nd. The new look, new fuel-efficient engines and Mitsubishi's acclaimed All-Terrain Technology set Pajero apart from its competitors," said CEO Mr McEniry.

Complementing the 4WD range and launched at the Sydney Motor Show under the "4WD Revolution" banner, is the new ZG-series Outlander. Offering 2.4 litre and 3.0 litre, all new aluminium high tech engines, CV Transmission and an on demand 4WD system, as a driver's delight. Stocks are now in dealerships and sales commenced as the month end sales figures closed off. Sharing a significant amount of technology with both the Pajero and the world renowned Evo range, the all new, high technology, fuel efficient vehicles with a very flexible cargo area will ensure the Outlander sales grow incrementally over the coming months.
