Three New Peugeots for Geneva Motor Show

11th February, 2007

2007 Peugeot 207 CC

  • Geneva hosts triple Peugeot World premieres
  • Debut of the 207 GTi THP 175, the 4007 and the 207 SW Outdoor
  • Two new Concept cars personalise and extend Peugeot’s appeal

The Geneva Motor Show is always an important event for Peugeot and this year the brand will be revealing no less than three new body styles of the 207 range, along with its new sport utility vehicle (SUV) – the 4007. Each one demonstrates Peugeot’s desire to extend the appeal of its products with a full choice of stylish vehicles (CC, GTi, SW and SUV).

World Premieres for 207

The 207, launched in Europe during 2006 and about to be released in Australia, has quickly become a sales success with some 334,000 produced in 2006. This appeal continues with three new models on show. Two of them will be in European showrooms soon – the 207 CC and the 207 GTi, while the third – the 207 SW Outdoor Concept is an illustration of what could be a future model dedicated to leisure and dynamism.

The 207 CC is a worthy successor to the best-selling 206 CC, of which 360,000 units were sold. While benefiting from all of the hatchback’s attributes, the 207 CC is aimed at those who appreciate design and attractive feline style. The foldaway roof is fully automatic, benefiting from high-quality materials and strong security features combined with a class-leading dynamic experience.

Another world premiere is the debut of the 207 GTi THP 175 that continues the line of sporting legends – the 206 and 205 GTi. The 207 GTi inspires a driving sensation to satisfy the ‘enthusiast in everyone’, that can be enjoyed on an everyday basis.

The 207 GTi has a personality that is big on stamina and features the latest 1.6-litre THP (Turbo High Pressure) petrol engine with turbo direct injection, producing an amazing delivery of 240 Nm of torque from just 1,600 rpm – the result of a collaboration between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group.

At the heart of the Peugeot stand is the 207 SW Outdoor Concept – a car that captures the most significant attributes of the forthcoming SW model – with panoramic glass roof, split-opening rear hatch, huge modularity and spacious qualities – but as a Concept car it has a distinctive and dynamic ‘outdoor’ styling character.

Agility, technology and modernity characterise the 207 SW Outdoor Concept.  It extends further Peugeot customers’ aspirations for a versatile leisure and practical use vehicle. The specification includes tough exterior materials, bluish chrome detailing, light grey leather and parachute type fabric, enhanced with fluorescent orange ribbing to protect the load space area.

World Premiere for 4007

The new 4007, presented for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, takes Peugeot into a new sector that increases brand-loyal customer choice, with an SUV vehicle. This new vehicle – produced in partnership with the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation – is a versatile and stylish product that beautifully illustrates Peugeot virtues – a confident and stylish appearance combined with everyday adventure and driving enjoyment.

With a strong identity at the front with its feline characteristics, the 4007 expresses both strength and sportiness. Powered by a new 2.2-litre HDi engine with DPFS (Diesel Particulate Filter System), it produces a useful 380 Nm of torque. This makes it both dynamic, while environmentally responsible, as it features the selection of two- or four-wheel drive.

Also on the stand is another 4007 silhouette but with the personality distinguished by ‘Holland&Holland’. This is an exclusive design that promotes the vehicle attributes without being ostentatious. Hagenias bronze paintwork is dressed with water-proof leather finishes, while this 4007 is displayed with attractive 20” alloy wheels.

The passenger compartment is covered with Jet Black and Chartreuse Green bull calf leather finished with double row saddle stitching to the facia, the seats and door panels, with inserts of ruthenium (black chrome). The 4007 ‘Holland&Holland’ is personalised for an individual lifestyle and the desire to travel differently.

Exclusive and technologically advanced Concept cars

Peugeot is also showing the Swiss car-buying public two recent Concept cars – the 908 RC and the 207 Epure – that made their debut at the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

The 908 RC is a stunning concept and the absolute embodiment of Peugeot values: stylish, dynamic and innovative. Fitted with a V12 HDi diesel engine with DPFS, it is derived from the 2007 LMS Championship-competing Peugeot 908.

The 207 Epure is testimony to Peugeot’s commitment to protecting the environment.  This technological demonstrator shows the advance that Peugeot has made into the research and development of battery technology, with zero emissions and total silence during operation.

High-performing yet environmentally friendly Peugeot engines

Peugeot’s commitment to protecting the environment has many strands, but one shown at the Geneva Motor Show is its range of new high-tech engines that give strong performance while also reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emission levels. Recent developments include a new family of petrol engines, developed in collaboration with the BMW Group. There are three new 1.6-litre engines and the higher output 150 bhp and 175 bhp versions feature Turbo High Pressure (THP) direct petrol injection.

Also displayed are four HDi engines that illustrate Peugeot’s technical expertise with diesel engines and also benefit from the latest Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) that greatly favours the environment. Nearly 1.4 million models have been fitted with DPFS, making Peugeot a world leader in this technology.
