Peugeot 207 Spider

  • Confirming a broad commitment to motorsport, Peugeot unveiled the 207 Spider race car at the Paris Motor Show
  • Developed from the ‘20Cup’ three-wheel concept car
  • Introduction of a new single class category, where 207 Spiders will be raced as a curtain raiser in all five rounds of the 2007 Le Mans Series (LMS)

The Peugeot Spider 207 which has just debuted at the Paris Motor Show, was developed from the ‘20Cup’ concept car but features a more conventional 4-wheel architecture and a rear transverse engine.

The Spider, to be driven in a single-class category will provide intense and genuine driving pleasure, combined with the use of a production engine offering a high level of torque and reliability. This category will be the curtain raiser to all five rounds of the Le Mans Series and an extra event will also take place in France as part of the Recontres Peugeot Sport.

Peugeot 207 Spider

The 207 Spider embodies the attributes of both LMP1 and LMP2 cars and complies with ACO regulations, particularly in regards to rollover protection. Its rear design is reminiscent of the Sport Prototype cars of the 1970’s, with its short engine cowling with no rear spoiler.

Weighing only 720 kg, the Spider is powered by a high pressure turbo-charged 1.6-litre petrol engine, developing 128 kW of power and 240 Nm of torque, from a low 1,600 rpm through to 4,500 rpm on a constant basis. The 207 Spider sits on 18 inch aluminium monobloc rims, with power fed through a Sadev ST 74-14, 6 speed dog ring gearbox, featuring sequential gear selection actuated by paddles on the steering wheel.
