Porsche Festival to break all records

Porsche Festival

21st August, 2004

The inaugural Porsche Festival (29th-30th August) at Brands Hatch is set to be the largest ever gathering of Porsche cars in the world.

Organised by the 16,000 strong Porsche Club of Great Britain, highlights include a world record attempt, hot lap passenger rides, off-road experience, rallying and on-track action from the four UK based 2004 Porsche race series.

Top of the bill on the historic racecar display will be three 917s, worth over £1.5m each, and the 1998 Le Mans winning GT1. Other exotic machinery include a 1974 Carrera RSR Turbo, a rare outing for one of only 200 959s ever built, and the triple Le Mans winning 936 from the late Seventies.

Almost every blade of the 340 acre Brands Hatch site is being utilised for the Festival with passenger rides in the new Porsche Cayenne on the challenging off-road circuit, and a chance to experience an array of ex-competition cars on the rally course. Monies raised from both activities will be donated to the charity, CLIC (Child and Leukaemia in Children).

The Festival will also be the venue for a world record attempt to get the greatest number of moving Porsches on a racetrack.

Competition over the two-day event will come from the Michelin Porsche Club Speed Championship, the BRSCC Porsche 924 Championship, and the Michelin Porsche Open.

Away from the action, the Trade Village will offer the opportunity to purchase Porsche memorabilia, spare parts and even a car or two!

With children of all ages in mind, non-Porsche attractions include race simulator rides, face-painting, bouncing castles and a chance to test driving skills on both the Go-Kart Grand Prix and remote controlled Porsche cars.
