Renault Megane Sedan Price Re-Aligned

18th April, 2007

Renault Megane sedan

Renault has re-positioned its well-equipped Mégane sedan range. The six-speed manual Expression Sedan is now retailing from $24,990 (RRP), making it the best equipped European sedan available on the market at this price.

The new pricing structure represents a reduction in the recommended retail price of up to $3,500 across the three models in the sedan range and is expected to increase sales of the good-looking sedan substantially.

“The repositioning of the Megane sedan range will add a great car to many shopping lists,” says Renault Australia Managing Director Rudi Koenig. “The Megane sedan is an excellent blend of European style, engineering and safety and starting from $24,990 it is also outstanding value for money.”

The standard equipment list on the Expression Sedan means it is now the best equipped European sedan for its price on the market by a significant margin.

Safety Standard

Standard safety equipment includes electronic stability control (with understeer control), six airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS brakes with electronic brake force distribution and emergency brake assist plus cruise control with a speed-limiter function.

Model Line-Up

The Mégane sedan range includes two variants, Expression and Privilege. All models are powered by a 98 kw 2.0-litre engine which is engineered to offer excellent low-range torque.

The entry-level Expression is offered with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or four-speed proactive automatic transmission.

Standard features on this model are climate control air conditioning, a single disc in-dash CD player with satellite controls, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, cruise control with speed limiter, electric front and rear windows and door mirrors, 60/40 split fold rear seats, air-chilled glove box, 16” steel rims with wheels covers, side and rear sunshades, trip computer and outside temperature gauge, front fog lights and a “see me home” headlight function.

The top-spec Privilege is offered with one transmission, the four-speed proactive automatic. It has all the Expression’s features and equipment with the addition of a leather trimmed upholstery, leather steering wheel and gear knob, rear parking proximity sensors, a six-stack in-dash CD player, floor mats, 17” alloy wheels, body-coloured side mouldings and bumper inserts, chrome door handles and metallic paint.

Design Detail

The attention to detail on a variety of features throughout the sedan underlines the quality of the vehicle. Thoughtful items such as cleverly integrated storage spaces, air-chilled glove box, an aviation-style handbrake which frees up space for storage underneath the central armrest, an integrated fuel filler cap and built-in sunshades for rear seat occupants are all standard.
