All-New Smart Fortwo Goes on Sale in Germany

16th January, 2007

Smart Fortwo

The all-new Smart Fortwo is now available to order from all authorised Smart dealers in Germany and customers will be pleased to hear that prices for the new vehicle are no higher than for previous models.

The new Smart Fortwo coupe and cabrio will arrive in European showrooms in April and will be available as both a coupé and a cabrio. Australian will see the all-new two-door when it arrives later this year.

The two-seater is available in Europe with a choice of two naturally aspirated petrol engine versions, delivering 45 or 52 kW, as well as a turbo petrol engine rated at 62 kW. The diesel version, the Smart Fortwo cdi, has a power output of 33 kW coupled to amazing economy and low exhaust emissions. With standard consumption of just 3.4 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of just 90 grammes per kilometre, the Smart Fortwo cdi shows it’s environmentally and socially and responsible as well as fun and stylish.

Final Australian specifications and pricing for the successor to the original Fortwo are to be announced later this year, but the European launch of the city car sends an strong indication to Australian buyers.

The new Smart Fortwo can do everything that the current model can do - only better. This means that the new Smart Fortwo is more comfortable, more agile, safer and more environmentally friendly than its predecessor.
