Subaru's record February sales

Subaru achieved record February sales of 2695 vehicles, according to official VFACTS figures released this week.

The figure is 474 vehicles ahead of the same month last year.

It means that Subaru has captured 3.7 per cent of the total vehicle market year-to-date and achieved 18.3 per cent growth.

Sales were consistently strong across the range - Forester had its best ever February with 917 units, 81 ahead of February 2003.

Outback also achieved a record February with 555 sales, 167 ahead of last February.

In the compact all-wheel drive market segment, Forester achieved a 15.4 per cent share for the month and Outback 9.3 per cent. Combined, this again makes Subaru the dominant brand in the segment, with a 24.7 per cent share.

Liberty sold 641 units, 324 ahead of the same month last year. This equates to a healthy 16.1 per cent of the medium car market for the month.

Impreza recorded 582 sales.

Nick Senior, General Manager, Subaru Australia, said: "This is our third consecutive report of monthly sales records.

"We're very encouraged by new generation Liberty and Outback sales which, combined at 1196, represent significant growth over the previous models."

He added: "Forester is also consistently strong and the addition of the turbocharged XT model last year, along with new Liberty and Outback, have brought many new customers to the brand."
