Subaru achieved record August sales of 2658 units according to official VFACTS figures released today.

This takes the brand's year-to-date sales to 22,954, which is 17.9 per cent ahead of the same period in 2003. Market share YTD is 3.6 per cent.

Outstanding performer was Liberty with sales of 668 - a massive 83 per cent ahead of the same month last year and a record August.

Outback recorded an impressive result too with 487 sales, 52 per cent up on August 2003.

Combined Forester and Outback sales gave Subaru a commanding 25 per cent of the SUV Compact segment.

Sales were consistently strong across the Subaru range, with Forester retailing 1002 units and Impreza 501.

Nick Senior, General Manager, Subaru Australia said: "The arrival of our model year 2005 line-up has created huge customer interest, not least in the new six-cylinder Liberty variants and the manual Liberty GT, plus Impreza WRX STi.

"We've added yet more value across the Subaru range and this is clearly indicated in our August sales result."
