Suzuki Swift

9th March, 2005

Suzuki Motor Corporation has revealed an impressive increase in global production and sales with final results now available for 2004.

The 2004 calendar year proved extremely successful for the popular Japanese brand, achieving an annual global sales volume of just over 1.9 million units.

This means Suzuki builds and sells more cars than respected Japanese brands such as Mazda, Subaru and Mitsubishi. The recent launch of the all new Suzuki Swift has contributed significantly to Suzuki's success, with sales of the vehicle far exceeding expectations.

In its domestic market of Japan, Suzuki maintained its number one position in the mini car category for the 32nd consecutive year with 593,000 units sold in that category alone.

Domestic production was 1,046,000 units, an increase of 7% from 2003, this figure is Suzuki's best ever result, as the production increased for both the domestic market and for export purposes.

Suzuki's overseas plants recorded a record 16% growth, producing 941,000 units, with significant increase in production in India, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Suzuki is now 4th largest car manufacturer in Japan and globally, Suzuki is the 12th largest car manufacturer with aggressive plans for further growth.

Looking forward and with a range of new and exciting products on the horizon, Suzuki has predicted global production will reach 2,164,000 with sales exceeding 2,000,000 units in 2005.
