Suzuki Swift Receives Top Marks in Safety

2005 Suzuki Swift

17th March, 2005

The all new Suzuki Swift has scored an impressive safety rating from independent assessment body Euro NCAP, placing the popular light passenger vehicle amongst the top of its class in safety performance.

Incorporating the latest technologies in safety and security, the Swift was tested in aspects of protection against front and side impact, pedestrian contact and child safety.

Launched globally last year at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, the innovative, sporty and elegant design of the vehicle gives the Swift a genuine international appeal.

Developed in Europe, the Swift was designed to appeal to today's sophisticated consumer and as a result has a huge range of features and equipment fitted as standard contributing to its high safety performance rating.

The vehicle was developed from scratch giving engineers the opportunity to create a structure that was able to withstand differing degrees of contact.

The Suzuki engineering team have adopted shock absorbing structures notably in the bonnet, fenders, wipers and front bumper of the vehicle, assisting in the protection of pedestrians in the event of contact and lessening the severity of injuries.

A collapsible steering column, and leg mitigating brake and clutch pedals are featured in the cabin, shielding passengers from impact forces.

Front seat belt pre tensioners and force limiters, and energy absorbing trim are also fitted, helping to reduce injury to the vehicle's passengers.

Front dual SRS airbags are standard with side and curtain airbags available on the 'S' model Swift. In the event of a side impact, a curtain airbag on the affected side of the vehicle is deployed to help protect the occupants head.

A side airbag is incorporated into the outer seatback bolster of each front seat. In the event of a side impact, the side airbag on the affected side of the vehicle inflates to protect the occupant's upper body.

Other active safety technologies include a four wheel antilock braking system, an electronic brake force distribution system and a brake assist function, which together assist the driver in avoiding hazards.

Suzuki also offers customers peace of mind with an immobiliser and Suzuki's latest tamper resistant door locks.

The base Suzuki Swift is available in a manual and automatic hatch and is priced from just $15,990, while the Swift S is only an additional $2,000 with the added extras of fog lamps, alloy wheels and side and curtain airbags.

A full range of accessories are available from Suzuki dealerships to add comfort, convenience and flair.

The Suzuki Swift comes with Suzuki CustomerCare, providing customers with peace of mind via a three year/ 100,000km warranty and three year 24 hour roadside assistance.
