The sporty Volvo S60 sedan gets an even more athletic appearance.

The enhanced design in combination with improved driving properties will make the Volvo S60 an even more attractive choice for the customer looking for a sporting sedan.

The exterior design changes boost the car’s sporting profile, while the interior changes aim at further enhancing the aura of quality and comfort.

New Features for MY05 S60 Sedan:

  • More rounded front and elegant grille
  • Colour-matched side trim
  • New centre stack and panel décor
  • Cleaner rear end design with new bumpers and transparent lenses in lamps
  • New generation of Volvo seats with improved adjustment
  • Improved sounding deadening in rear wheel housings for quieter ride
  • Door mirrors with Water Repellent Glass (WRG)
  • High pressure headlamp washers
  • Four-C active chassis as an option
  • BLIS safety technology as an option

The Volvo S60 is now also available as an option with the sophisticated Four-C (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept) active chassis. Four-C offers the driver impressive suspension control and at the same time allows the driver to choose the ride character that suits the driver's mood and driving style by selecting either Comfort or Sport mode. Four-C can adjust each damper's individual rebound response rate in a split second.

In 2003, Volvo Cars introduced Four-C active chassis on the high-performance S60 R sedan and V70 R wagon. For 2005, this same Four-C suspension technology is offered on S80, S60, V70 and all-wheel-drive XC70.

Sportier and Safer!
What is more, the safety level of the Volvo S60 is further enhanced with a number of new features, such as the smart camera-based BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), which monitors the driver’s 'blind spots'.

BLIS is an exciting new safety technology that employs digital camera technology to recognise another vehicle or motorcycle entering your 'blind spot'. BLIS is a world-first technology from Volvo Cars and will be offered to Australian customers as an option in early 2005.

“In this way, the enhanced Volvo S60 is an excellent example of where Volvo Cars is heading. We are continuously reinforcing our positions when it comes to design and driving properties – yet without compromising on our determination to continue leading the way in terms of safety,” says Hans-Olov Olsson, President and CEO at Volvo Cars.

Volvo Car Australia has logically reduced the number of S60 model variants to two. The S60 SE, priced at $56,950, is powered by Volvo's 2.4-litre five cylinder engine producing 125kW and 225Nm. The all-alloy, 20-valve engine accompanies a five-speed automatic transmission.

Leather sports seats highlight the S60 SE's interior. For MY05, the S60 SE specification includes the addition of a driver's seat with electronic adjustment with memory. The S60 SE now rolls on 16x7-inch alloy wheels and 215/55 series rubber.

The S60 AWD, priced at $68,950, is exceptionally well tuned to the driving enthusiast. The all-wheel-drive system biases drive via a sophisticated Haldex computer-controlled mechanical coupling. The S60 AWD is able to rapidly react to changes in road surface to ensure maximum control.

The S60 AWD is powered by Volvo's low-pressure turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine producing 154kW and 320Nm of torque from 1500-4500rpm. The engine is also very fuel efficient returning 10.2L/100km (ADR 81) in partnership with the five-speed automatic transmission.
