The organisers of the inaugural Old Bar Beach Festival have registered a claim with Guinness World Record to attempt to set a new world record for the ‘Most Volkswagen Kombis and Transporters’ gathered in one location. The attempt has been recognised by World Book and if successful it may feature in the second series of Australian Guinness World Records.

The Old Bar Beach Festival is held on the long weekend in October, (1st & 2nd) 2005.

The festival committee are requesting all Volkswagen Kombi or Transporter (vans, utes and buses) and Campervan drivers get involved and be part of setting a new world record.

Vehicles must register with the organisers. Marshal at the Old Bar Airstrip at 10am on Saturday 1st October, 2005 to participate in this event.

To obtain a new record, 490 Kombis (and variants) will need to be at the Old Bar Airstrip at 10am on 1st October, 2005. Given the number of Kombi enthusiasts who are on the road, that should be an achievable target!

Information can be obtained by contacting festival coordinators Cozette Leonard (02) 6553.7328 or Helene Schliefert (02) 6553.3175.
