Readers of promobil and Caravaning vote Volkswagen
to
victory four times
Volkswagens are the
vehicles of choice for motorhome fans and campers. The California, Touareg,
Touran, and Multivan are all voted first in their classes.
Just under 18,000 readers of Europe's most widely read
motorhome magazine "promobil" have given their verdict: the new Volkswagen
California is the top vehicle in the class "Camping buses up to €50 000". The
multi-functional bus is both a comfortable car for work and day-to-day travel and
a rolling holiday home for up to four people. Equipped with cupboards, kitchen,
and two double beds it provides perfectly for the needs of the mobile society. A
choice of three TDI engines from 77 kW / 105 PS to 128 kW / 174 PS is available.
The readers of "Caravaning" have also cast their votes. They
are particularly interested in towing performance. The Touareg excels in this
field with a maximum trailer weight of 3.5 tonnes, earning it first place in the
4-wheel drive category. The 8,400 readers who voted also found the variability
of the interior important. The successful Volkswagen Touareg is available in
Europe with a V6 or V8 petrol engine, a five-cylinder TDI or a V10 TDI - with
power ratings ranging from 174 to 313 PS. The 2.5l TDI produces 128 kW / 174 PS;
it is a both powerful and economical direct injection diesel and is the
entry-level engine.
The Volkswagen Touran collected 30.8 percent of votes. The
Touran is Germany's most popular compact MPV. Following its launch it rapidly
became the top-seller in the MPV segment. Three equipment variants of the Touran
are available with a choice of eight dynamic and economical engine/gearbox
configurations from 75 kW / 102 PS to 110 kW / 150 PS.
The Volkswagen Multivan was also a clear favourite. Its
versatility and high trailer weight won it 53 percent of votes. Its two rotating
seats and the rear bench, which folds down to form a bed, are movable thanks to
a rail system. With a table fitted as standard, the Multivan offers mobile space
for work and leisure. Its engines range from 77 kW / 105 PS to 173 kW / 235 PS.
It is available with an automatic gearbox and with 4-wheel drive.
