  • Powered by a punchy turbo T-Jet engine, generating 118kW and 230Nm

The trendy Italian hot hatch is back with  more equipment, more technology and zero compromise. The new Abarth 595 range has landed in Australia with two new trim levels on offer; the 595 Turismo hatch and the 595 Competizione hatch and convertible.

The Abarth 595 offers the kind of uncompromised performance you expect from a pure Italian hot hatch.

Powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo engine, the 595 generates 118kW and 230Nm – enough to push the feisty Italian to 100km/h in just 7.4secs (7.6secs using the Abarth Dualogic gearbox linked with paddle-shifters) and on to a blistering top speed of 210km/h in manual guise and 209km/h using the Dualogic transmission.

In keeping with its reputation for pure performance, the Abarth 595 draws on its proud racing heritage with motor sport-tested components, including Koni front suspension with FSD (frequency selective damping), perforated and self-ventilating front brake discs and an anti-roll bar, ensuring the 595 offers the performance to match its looks. For even more thrills, pushing the Sport button on the dashboard increases throttle response and adds weight to the steering.

Another new feature is the segment-first seven-inch TFT digital instrument display, developed in collaboration with Italian auto manufacturer Magneti Marelli, which seamlessly transforms into a race-spec computer at the push of a button, offering cornering g-force and a digital boost gauge.

The 595 Turismo captures the essence of both style and speed. It offers Abarth leather seats, Abarth diamond-finish 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/40 R17 tyres, cross drilled and self-ventilating front brake discs and Koni front suspension with FSD, which adjust to road conditions, as standard.

The 595 Competizione hardtop and convertible steps up to a more race-focussed specification, with Fabric Abarth Corsa by Sabelt® bucket seats, Abarth diamond-finish five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels with anthracite background and 205/40 R17 tyres and cross drilled and self-ventilating front brake discs. And then there’s the sound. The Abarth 595 Competizione’s Dual Mode ‘Record Monza’ exhaust opens at 4,000rpm, transforming the already head-turning exhaust into something otherworldly while shifting the car’s power curve, ensuring the Competizione is almost as exhilarating from outside the car as it is from the driver’s seat.

But the Abarth 595 range ensures its thrills can be cheap, with a fuel consumption rating of just 5.4-litres per 100 kilometres with a manual transmission and 5.3-litres per 100 kilometres with the Dualogic transmission.

And with 11 colours available on the Competizione and a further six stunning bi-colour designs exclusive to the Turismo, you can guarantee your 595 will be as unique to look at as it is to drive.

Introducing the Abarth 595 range, Fiat Chrysler Australia President & CEO, Ms Veronica Johns, said: “The evolution of Abarth continues with two thrill-a-minute editions guaranteed to put a smile on owner’s faces. The 595 Competizione and Turismo are the most exhilarating Abarth models to date, offering all the fun, style and excitement you’d expect from a pure Italian hot hatch.”
