4th November, 2010

At this week’s annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas (USA), Chevrolet will showcase how new designs, technologies and accessories can inspire aftermarket customisers to elevate the driving, visual and environmental appeal of the brand’s new products.

Chevrolet’s SEMA exhibit will introduce a new concept for a cohesive design approach to Chevy accessories and the best of the aftermarket, with a trio of show cars featuring the brand’s new family of small cars. The Z-Spec Concept represents Chevrolet designers’ ideas for a potential line of accessories, and will be showcased via concept versions of the all-new 2011 Chevy Cruze compact, as well as the new Volt extended-range electric vehicle and the future Chevy Spark mini-car.

Chevrolet will debut concepts that extend the design and performance attributes of its performance cars, with a series of Camaro and Corvette concepts, including show cars emphasising new expressions of each car’s track capabilities. Chevrolet will announce two new special edition models for Camaro that will be produced in 2011, the Camaro Synergy Series 2011 and XM Accessories Appearance Package.

Two additional Camaro models will debut as SEMA concepts, the Camaro Red Flash and the Camaro SSX Track Car, each containing a blend of Chevrolet Accessories and new concepts from Chevrolet designers. Two Corvette concepts, the Z06X Track Car and Corvette Jake will debut, offering different expressions of the car’s track accomplishments.

“SEMA 2010 provides an ideal platform to Chevy to showcase new products like the all-new Cruze compact and the revolutionary new Volt,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Car and truck enthusiasts have a natural connection to Chevrolet, and we intend to extend that with new design concepts and accessories aiming to make our products even more inspiring to customisers.”

GM Performance Parts will use SEMA as a platform to expand its series of E-ROD crate engines, the only high-performance V-8 engines that are designed to meet new emissions regulations being enacted in many states for vintage and classic cars.

This year, the SEMA Show is held 2nd-5th November at the Las Vegas Convention Centre for after-market industry professionals holding advanced purchased tickets.

Chevrolet Camaro Red Flash

The design of the all-new Chevrolet Camaro has been acclaimed by critics and celebrated by sports car buyers. With that appeal as a springboard, Chevrolet designers made the Red Flash Camaro SS Show Car to extend Camaro’s look – and even its sound – to a new level.

Red Flash combines Chevrolet Accessory parts available today with some specially designed new concepts from the design studio, resulting in a unique new Camaro statement. Its Red Jewel exterior colour is accented with grey heritage stripes and grey-accented 21-inch wheels. Under the bonnet, a Chevrolet Accessory air intake kit and, out back, the accessory exhaust kit, enhance the car’s performance, style and sound.

“The Camaro Red Flash is the opposite of a ‘sleeper’ on the street,” said Adam Barry, lead designer. “From every angle, it looks and sounds like the high-performance sports car it is. It’s a model for the enthusiast who doesn’t want to hide his performance aspirations.”

It also wears Chevrolet Accessory body-colour ground effects, high-wing rear spoiler with black-painted stanchions and other grey accents. A lowered suspension lends a more aggressive stance.

Inside, the Red Jewel features an Ebony leather-trimmed cabin with titanium stitching and red accents on the seats. There’s also a custom steering wheel, racing-style pedals and red LED lighting for the door trim.

Chevrolet Corvette Jake Edition

He started off as a discreet logo in 2005 that symbolised a tenacious attitude of the Corvette Racing team and ever since, the skull mascot known as Jake has grown to embody the determination and triumphs of the team. Now, Chevrolet designers have made the Corvette Jake Edition Concept, a special Grand Sport convertible concept vehicle that celebrates Corvette’s racing spirit.

The Corvette Jake Edition is a Grand Sport Coupe, with Z06 wheels featuring the Competition Grey finish. The matt Jake bonnet graphic from the GT1 commemorative model adds a subtle visual statement, while a host of other accessories round out the car’s unique appearance. Most of the parts added to this special Grand Sport are available as Genuine Corvette Accessories or through any American Chevrolet dealer’s parts department.

“Jake is more than the mascot for Corvette Racing, he personifies the Corvette spirit,” said Dave Ross, design manager. “We designed this concept to demonstrate how any enthusiast could create his own Jake special model with parts available from any Chevrolet dealership.”

Some of the accessories used to make the Corvette Jake concept are not currently available, but are planned for future release, including Jake-logo floor mats, console lid, wheel centre caps and more. Other parts, including the bonnet graphic and Z06 wheels, are offered as Genuine Corvette Accessories.

“The Corvette has long inspired car enthusiasts to personalise it. The Jake concept shows one very unique way to do it,” said Ross. “With the great variety of accessories and other parts available, there’s virtually no limit to how you can make your Corvette stand apart from all others.”
