Ford Performance Vehicles unveiled its bold new range of high-performance vehicles at Sydney's 2005 Australian International Motor Show.

The new-look BF introduces significant styling and class-leading mechanical upgrades that will continue to build upon the success generated by the BA FPV series.

For the first time since FPV was launched in September 2002, the BF range will consist of a full product lineup of six high-performance models: GT, GT-P, Pursuit, Super Pursuit, F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado. The addition of the ZF six-speed automatic transmission has allowed FPV to increase its product portfolio with, for the first time, an automatic gearbox available as an option on the turbo-charged F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado.

"Ford Performance Vehicles is little over three years old, and the support we have received from our customers and dealers has been tremendous," said David Flint, Managing Director of Ford Performance Vehicles.

"This is the first time we have been able to launch a new model with a complete lineup and, in turn, offer our customers the widest possible choice in high-performance vehicles. The addition of automatic variants of F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado will increase the appeal of FPV to an even wider audience, while the improvements made to the rest of the range builds on the name we have made for fresh exciting and technically-advanced product.

"The BF FPV range represents a significant step forward in performance, safety, efficiency and, most importantly, the fun of driving."

Never has an Australian-built production car range contained so many technologically-advanced performance driving features. The new ZF six-speed automatic transmission or the close-ratio Tremec T56 six-speed manual, the Boss 290 quad cam V8 or the F6 270 Turbo with its twin-plate clutch, the award-winning Control Blade independent rear suspension system, Brembo brakes and the outstanding Falcon chassis, all combine to offer the very best range of vehicles yet from FPV.

Complementing these mechanical features, the BF FPV range introduces an aggressive new styling theme with greater visual distinction between Boss 290 V8-powered and F6 270 Turbo-powered models, and more options for customers to personalise their vehicle.

  • Addition of optional six-speed automatic transmission on all models, including F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado for the first time.
  • New-look front and rear bumpers with unique lower intake styling between Boss 290 V8 and F6 270 models.
  • Twin-exhaust on GT and GT-P.
  • Revised engine specifications and introduction of on-board diagnostics to meet impending Euro III Emission regulations.
  • Upgraded brakes with four-piston Brembo front calipers standard on all models except GT-P and Super Pursuit which feature Premium six-piston Brembo front calipers.
  • New-design 19-inch alloy wheels on GT-P and Super Pursuit.
  • 19-inch alloy wheels standard on GT and Pursuit.
  • New-design 19-inch alloy wheels with Dark Argent spokes and machined outer rim available as an option on F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado.
  • Wider selection of new-look side stripes and hood decal package available as optional extra on all Boss 290 V8 models (no-cost option on premium GT-P and Super Pursuit models).
  • New 'Power Bulge' design hard tonneau cover available on all Ute models.
  • Traction Control standard on all Ute models.
  • Revised interior trim on all models.
  • Three new colours.
  • New-look GT and GT-P badges.
  • Reverse-parking sensors standard on GT-P and optional on GT and F6 Typhoon
  • Optional premium Interior Command Centre on F6 Tornado featuring dual-zone climate control and six-disc Premium sound system

"The combination of these upgraded features has allowed FPV to create the ultimate family of Australian-built high-performance Ford vehicles," Flint adds.

"We have also been able to provide our customers with even more options to personalise their vehicle.

"These cars are fabulous and continue delivering on our brand promise of providing great value high-performance vehicles."
