Already highly acclaimed internationally, Hyundai’s seventh-generation Sonata has now arrived in Australia.
The sophisticated all-new Hyundai Sonata brings new looks and technology, class-leading performance, driveability and
packaging. It also offers Hyundai’s hallmark value for money, extensive equipment and features and unique customer
focus.
Although it is classified in the Australian new-car market’s medium-car category, the all-new Sonata delivers
large-car interior space and comfort with unrivalled technology, features and equipment, much of which has been borrowed
from new Sonata’s superb 'stablemate', Genesis.
Major chassis development work – including increased use of advanced high-strength steel – has yielded significant
benefits in terms of both active and passive safety as well as vehicle dynamics and NVH. An extensive programme by
Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s suspension tuning engineers has honed the all-new Sonata for the unique demands of
Australian roads and drivers.
Available in three equipment levels – Active, Elite and Premium – the all-new Sonata is powered by Hyundai’s naturally
aspirated 2.4-litre (Active) and turbocharged 2.0-litre GDi Theta II petrol engines (Elite and Premium). Both engines are
matched to Hyundai’s advanced six-speed automatic with lock-up torque converter and sequential manual shift mode.
The all-new Sonata’s local launch also marks the return of Hyundai Australia’s longest-serving nameplate after a
five-year hiatus, its immediate predecessor donning i45 badges for the Australian market. The first-generation Sonata
debuted in Australia in 1989.
