Land Rover Takes Up The Reins At Windsor

Land Rover will once again be the main sponsor of the Royal Windsor Horse Show – taking place in Home Park, Windsor Castle, England, from 7th-11th May, 2008. As part of the Company's 60th anniversary celebrations, Land Rover will showcase the special edition Defender 90 SVX Soft Top alongside its current product line-up at the show.

Unveiled by Zara Philips in November 2007, the Defender 90 SVX will be available this (northern) summer in both soft top and station wagon forms. The special edition vehicle still bears a strong visual resemblance to its 1948 predecessor, but inside boasts features such as satellite navigation, Recaro seats and iPod connection.

John Edwards, Land Rover UK managing director commented: "We are hugely proud of our ongoing association with what is such a prestigious, international equestrian event. It is not only a fantastic platform to showcase our latest stable of vehicles, but also a wonderful event at which to celebrate our 60th anniversary this year."

The Land Rover International Driving Grand Prix – a competition in which His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh has been a regular participant – will again be a highlight at the event. The Company is also sponsoring a number of show jumping classes together with mountain and moorland, lightweight and heavyweight working hunter classes.

Land Rover will also have an assortment of displays and attractions for visitors to enjoy including the customary archway at the entrance to the show site displaying five Land Rover Discovery 3s. 'Terrapod' – a man-made off-road demonstration unit – will return to the Royal Windsor Show by popular demand and 'Mini Terrapod' will also be in action offering visitors the chance for the first time to drive the simulated off-road course. All proceeds from the 'ride' and 'drives' will go to charity.

As main sponsor of the event, Land Rover will continue to provide a fleet of vehicles to the show organisers for official duties, including transporting the vet, medics and judges.
