Mazda Motor Corporation has unveiled the all-new Mazda 2 which will go on sale in Australia in the last quarter of 2014.

The new Mazda 2 will be available with a range of three different engines, dependant on market, including SKYACTIV-G 1.5 and 1.3 litre petrol engines, or a SKYACTIV-D 1.5 litre diesel engine.

The new Mazda 2 packs a host of improvements into its compact body giving the car 'the look' of other Mazdas.

Developed around the same engineering concepts as those in larger Mazda models, new SKYACTIV engines, transmissions, body, and chassis, allow the new Mazda 2 to provide safety and fuel efficiency.

The new generation Mazda 2 line-up offers a range of technologies such as MZD Connect, Mazda’s next-generation car connectivity system.

Available for the first time on Mazda’s smallest model are i-ACTIVSENSE advanced safety features that aid the driver in recognising and responding to hazards.

Production of new Mazda 2, which has been fully redesigned for the first time in seven years, has begun at Mazda’s Hofu Plant No. 1 in Yamaguchi, Japan.

Following the Mazda CX-5, Mazda 6 and Mazda 3, the new Mazda 2 is the fourth in Mazda’s line-up of next-generation models which adopt the range of SKYACTIV Technology and the so called ‘KODO’ design.

With this fourth generation 2, Mazda again offers customers around the world a new interpretation of the sub-compact car.
