Mazda Australia has achieved its best August sales result, selling 5,464 vehicles last month.

Buoyed by deliveries of the updated Mazda 2 and Mazda 6 models, these core Mazda models reached 601 and 1,324 retails respectively.

The Mazda 2 had its best ever sales performance, passing the previous record month of 599 sales recorded this time last year. Mazda 6 sales were well up on the company’s anticipated sales total of 1100 sales.

Other strong performers last month included Tribute with 583 reta ls, its best result since August 2004. RX-8 sold 133, its best month this year and B Series had its best August performance with 583.

Mazda’s best seller was the class leading Mazda 3 range, which despite being supply restricted last month, achieved 2,074 sales, with 30 per cent of those the range-topping 115 kilowatt, 2.3-litre SP23.

Mazda Australia’s managing director, Doug Dickson, said: “The significant upgrades introduced in the facelifted Mazda 2 and Mazda 6 models have met with instant approval from buyers in the light and medium car markets.

“Both models have been great performers for Mazda and the facelifted models will only build on that success”.

Mazda Australia has now recorded record sales every month this year and is expected to retail 65,000 vehicles this year, almost 17 per cent up on last year’s 55,560 total.
