Mercedes-Benz Announces Pricing for the All-New CLC-Class Sports Coupé

24th April, 2008

Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class

Mercedes-Benz yesterday announced pricing and specifications for the all-new CLC-Class Sports Coupé, which will arrive in Australia later this year.

The CLC-Class Sports Coupé is priced from $49,900*, with customers able to select from the CLC 200 Kompressor, the CLC 200 Kompressor EVOLUTION and the luxury sports CLC 200 Kompressor EVOLUTION +.

The CLC-Class opens up a new chapter in the success story of the C-Class Sports Coupé, which has enthralled some 320,000 drivers around the world since 2001. The first-generation C-Class Sports Coupé was a conquest model, not least because 70 percent of its buyers had never before opted for a Mercedes-Benz. The two-door model attracted the attention of a large and diverse buyer group, primarily attracting new customers for the brand bearing the famous star. With this amazing rate of buyer conquest, the Sports Coupé is one of the star performers of the Mercedes strategic product initiative.

It is one thing to conquer new customers, but maintaining their enthusiasm for the brand over the long term is another challenge. The Mercedes Sports Coupé has managed to do both: more than two thirds of buyers of the predecessor to the CLC-Class were very satisfied with their car and remained loyal to the brand.

Better still, some 43 percent of these loyal customers actually opted for a larger Mercedes-Benz after the Sports Coupé and are currently driving either an E-Class, CLK coupé or cabriolet or an SLK roadster.

The designers and engineers from Mercedes-Benz have enhanced or newly developed over 1,100 parts, providing a contemporary Sports Coupé whose all-new front and rear design, along with its even more agile handling, testify to its sports nature. All of this has been achieved whilst maintaining the high standards set by Mercedes in terms of safety and comfort.

Standard safety equipment: classic Mercedes-Benz

As expected from Mercedes-Benz, the new CLC 200 Kompressor offers a wealth of standard safety features including:

  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
  • Brake Assist (BAS)
  • Brake pad wear indicator
  • Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
  • Front airbags, windowbags and sidebages for driver and front passenger,
  • Windowbags and sidebags for rear passengers
  • PARKTRONIC parking assistance system
  • Seatbelt pre-tensioners with belt-force limiters
  • Tyre pressure loss warning system

Sports orientation with the CLC 200 Kompressor EVOLUTION

The all-new CLC 200 Kompressor EVOLUTION offers customers a sports coupe with an even greater focus, gaining an impressive array of features. The EVOLUTION model further underlines the sporting credentials of the new Mercedes-Benz CLC, with the sports instrument cluster and Direct Steer speed-sensitive power steering options being unique to these models. For only a $4,000 price premium, the CLC 200 Kompressor EVOLUTION gains the following equipment:

  • Direct Steer speed sensitive power steering for advanced vehicle agility and dynamics (Unique to EVOLUTION models)
  • Bi-Xenon headlamps with cornering light function and headlamp cleaning system
