Mercedes-Benz Australia has announced the local pricing and specification
for the Mercedes-Benz GLE 4-door Coupé range.
Combining the sporty nature of a coupé with the characteristics of a four-door SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé fuses
two styles of vehicles, to redefine the possibilities of modern luxury.
"Our GLE Coupé combines typical coupé attributes, such as sportiness, dynamism and agility, with the confident
presence, versatility and robustness of an SUV", says Prof. Dr Thomas Weber, Board Member responsible for Group
Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development. “The GLE Coupé is the new addition to the successful portfolio of
Mercedes-Benz coupés. Alongside the classic, two-door C, E and S-Class models and the four-door CLS and CLA-Class coupés,
the new coupé displays a highly individual interpretation of the physiognomy and light-footed approach typical of this
family of vehicles.”
Boasting a large interior for a coupé, the new GLE Coupé provides space for up to five people, offering passengers the
widest rear seat bench in its class. With a maximum of 1,650 litres, the coupé also offers the largest luggage
compartment in its class. For the first time in this segment, Mercedes-Benz is also offering a fully electric extendable
and retractable trailer coupling, which also includes ESP® trailer stabilisation.
The model range: A sportier choice
The 6-cylinder engine of the GLE 350 d 4MATIC model in conjunction with the new 9G-TRONIC transmission delivers
a fuel consumption rating of 7.2L/100km (combined cycle), while producing 190 kW and maximum torque of 620 Nm from 1,600
rpm. The entry level model to the range introduces an exceptional array of standard equipment into the range including
AMG Body styling, DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes, 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive, AIRMATIC Air suspension, 21” AMG
Wheels, an LED Intelligent Light System, COMAND navigation, an EASY-PACK automatic power tailgate, Harman Kardon® Logic
7® 14 speaker surround-sound system, part Nappa Leather upholstery, as well as heated and electronically adjustable AMG
Line sports front seats.
Utilising a 6-cylinder bi-turbo engine, the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC Coupé produces a maximum output of 270 kW and 520 Nm to
deliver outstanding driving dynamics, and acceleration from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds. In addition to the standard
equipment across the range, the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC Coupé also incorporates a panoramic sliding sunroof, AMG Line Nappa
part Leather upholstery, 22” AMG Wheels, ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM with anti-roll stabilisation and an Anti-Theft Protection
The top of the GLE 4-door coupe range, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC Coupé delivers outstanding performance from
its 5.5L V8 engine, which is assembled according to Mercedes-AMG’s ‘One man, One Engine’ philosophy. The GLE 63 S Coupé
produces 430 kW and 760 Nm in conjunction with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission to accelerate from 0 -
100km/h in just 4.2 seconds. The GLE 63 S Coupé also incorporates the following equipment as standard: AMG Driver’s
Package, AMG Performance Exhaust, AIR-BALANCE Package, Digital TV Tuner, Luxury heated and ventilated multi-contour front
seats in Exclusive AMG Nappa part Leather.
A new benchmark in safety
The GLE Coupé will also arrive with exceptional safety features as standard including: 9 Airbags, COLLISION PREVENTION
ASSIST PLUS, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop & Go Pilot, PRE-SAFE®Brake, PRE-SAFE®Plus, Crosswind
Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, an Active Bonnet and an LED Intelligent Light System with
Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus.
Stability pact: AIRMATIC with ADS Plus, Sports Direct-Steer and ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM
In addition to the ground-breaking powertrain configuration, the newly designed AIRMATIC air suspension – available
for the first time with the continuously variable damping system ADS Plus – guarantees extremely stable driving. The
damping system changes its area of emphasis depending on the pre-selected DYNAMIC SELECT mode. The current operating
conditions are detected via a steering angle sensor, four turning angle sensors and the driving speed from the ESP®
signal and the brake pedal switch. The control unit uses these signals for infinitely variable adjustment of the current
damping force required for each individual wheel.

The ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM with active roll stabilisation is also part of the special sports systems that are activated
when the driver selects SPORT or SPORT+. At the same time, the active anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles raise
the comfort to saloon level and compensate for even heavy, one-sided excitation – for example when driving over
potholes. In combination with the newly configured, degressive Sports Direct-Steer system, the handling is outstanding in
all operating conditions.
The exciting new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé range is now available to order for customers in Australia with first
deliveries expected in September 2015.
