Mercedes-Benz is extending the model range of the S-Class sedan with the particularly economical S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, the S 400 Long Wheel Base (LWB), the high-performance S 63 AMG (LWB) and the luxurious S 600 (LWB) flagship model. The new models can be ordered with immediate effect, and will be in dealer showrooms over the coming weeks and months.

Just a short time after the model changeover, the new S-Class has already taken the top sales position in its segment in both worldwide and here in Australia. Now Mercedes-Benz is expanding the range starting with the economical S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid.

The S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid has a fuel consumption rating of just 4.5 litres of diesel per 100 km in the combined cycle (CO2: 118 g/km), and complies with the criteria for energy efficiency class A+. This means that over the course of ten years, Mercedes-Benz has cut fuel consumption in the 150 kW performance class by almost half.

In the S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz has combined the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine developing 150 kW with a powerful hybrid module. Its 20 kW electric motor is positioned between the internal combustion engine and the automatic transmission. It assists the diesel engine when the car is accelerating (boost effect) and, in alternator mode, is used for the recuperation of braking energy, although driving under electric power alone is also possible.

The S 600 is the new 'flagship' model in the S-Class, available only with a long wheelbase and luxurious appointments. With an output of 390 kW, its V12 biturbo engine develops even more output than its predecessor. The displacement of the engine has increased from 5,513 to 5,980 cc. Maximum torque is 830 Nm from 1,900 rpm.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class range is now available to order. The manufacturer’s recommended list price* is as follows:
