Nissan Australia will turn its new product offensive on the local sedan market with the introduction of the new Maxima sedan designed to deliver a new level of modern elegance.

With its contemporary design, ride comfort and thoughtful appointments, the all-new J32 Maxima will expand its sales potential through some significant new additions to the model line-up.

Available in June, the J32 Maxima is the new generation version of a model that was launched in Australia in 1990.

Priced from $33,990 (RRP), the new Maxima will arrive with its optimal ride comfort and thoughtful appointments for all passengers.

Award-Winning V6:

Maxima has delivered seamless power through its award-winning V6 engine (coupled to Nissan’s innovative X-Tronic CVT Automatic transmission). The upgraded VQ35 3.5 litre engine means the new Maxima is more powerful yet features greater fuel efficiency than the previous generation J31 Maxima.

A new engine, the 2.5L VQ25DE is introduced to the Maxima range to deliver smooth and responsive power, with a level of refinement for which the Maxima has always been renowned. Most importantly, this engine is the most fuel efficient V6 in its class – delivering V6 performance with the economy of a 4-cylinder.

The all new Maxima features an impressive level of standard features including standard leather trim, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats, dual zone climate control, Xenon headlamps, 6 stack CD player, 17” alloy wheels, and Nissan’s Intelligent Key with Engine Start Button.

Plus, the all-new Maxima delivers a full complement of safety features including standard 6 airbags (driver, passenger, dual side, and curtain), ABS, and VDC stability control. A rear camera with Nissan’s Predictive Path Technology is also available.

Optional features include an all-new, Satellite Navigation System which is combined with a BOSE® 11-speaker audio system. This system also incorporates Bluetooth® handsfree mobile phone technology and a DVD Player which will play movies in full Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

Nissan Australia Managing Director, Dan Thompson said the new Maxima offers a significant new opportunity for Nissan in Australia.

"The introduction of the V6 2.5L engine in addition to the award winning V6 VQ35 3.5L engine will mean the all new Maxima can compete against both medium and large sedans for the first time in the Australian market."

"Maxima has always been an outstanding prestige vehicle that delivers the finest appointments in a quality package. With the advent of the 2.5L engine, we are now able to deliver the same high level of features and quality to those looking for a medium segment sedan."

The new Nissan Maxima utilises the newly developed Nissan “D” platform. This produces significant improvements in the key areas of ride and handling, noise suppression and safety. Many features, including the rear spoiler, wheel design and seat trim have been designed exclusively for the Australian market. Nissan Australia product planners worked extensively with Nissan Japan to tailor the vehicle for the Australian market.

Further details, including pricing and specifications, will be available closer to the new Nissan Maxima’s local launch in June, 2009.
