30th November, 2010

During its meeting yesterday (local time), the Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, laid the foundations for continuing growth of the company. The Supervisory Board instructed the Board of Management to drive forward the development of a new model range to series production. Under the working name "Cajun", this new model will further expand Porsche's presence in the SUV segment. The "Cajun" will have typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility. As an entry model for the Porsche brand, the "Cajun" will attract new and younger customers to the marque.

Presumably the new Porsche Cajun (series production name to be confirmed) will be based on the Volkswagen Tiguan. In coming years additional new models under the Porsche brand can be expected as Volkswagen (Porsche's new owners) steer the sports car manufacturer to higher sales volumes.
