Renault LCV Range Updated

14th May, 2007

Renault has introduced a range of product and model line-up changes to its increasingly popular light commercial van range as part of the introduction of the 2007 Kangoo, Trafic and Master model updates.

“The Renault light commercial range is developing a strong following amongst fleet and small business customers because of it’s reliability, high level of specification and European design and engineering.” says Renault Australia Managing Director Rudi Koenig.

“Renault is the leading light commercial manufacturer in Europe and our new 2007 models show why we have been so successful.”

2007 Renault Kangoo

Kangoo

  • Feature Upgrades
  • Minor Styling Updates

The 2007 Kangoo can be identified by new crystal indicator casings, standard roof carry bars and a new interior cloth trim. The 2007 model also benefits from a number of new standard features.

All vans are now fitted with two side sliding doors with the addition of a door on the right-hand side. A useful Speed Control feature is designed to prevent drivers exceeding speed limits inadvertently.

Customers also have the ability to order body-coloured bumpers and mirrors and a hands free phone kit.

Standard Kangoo features include air-conditioning, dual front airbags, ABS, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), front power windows and mirrors, a CD-equipped sound system with satellite audio controls and a handy fold-down passenger seat for longer loads. The Kangoo load area volume is 2.75m3.

The Kangoo is powered by a fuel-efficient 1.6 litre fuel injected petrol engine and is available with a five speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic transmission.

2007 Renault Trafic

2007 Trafic (Phase 2)

  • Design Changes
  • Revised Model Line Up
  • New 2.0 Diesel dCi Engine

Interior and Exterior Design Upgrades

The new mid-sized Trafic range has a bold, modern and dynamic design. The re-designed front features one-piece headlamp units with built-in indicators and a new radiator grille expressing the Renault identity. New taillights enhance the vehicle’s rear design appeal. Cabin interiors are trimmed in new cloth upholstery.

Model Line Up

New Trafic will be available in a choice of two wheelbases (short and long – 3098mm and 3498mm), and a single (1.96m) roof height. The load volume capacity ranges from 5m³ (L1H1) to 5.94m³ (L2H1).

New 2.0 dCi Diesel

The most significant change to the 2007 Trafic is the new Euro 4 compliant 2.0 dCi engine. The new powerplant produces 85 kW @ 3,500rpm (up from 74kW) and maximum torque of 290 Nm from 1,600rpm. The new engine is teamed to a new six-speed manual gearbox.

The 2.0 dCi (M9R) engine on the new Trafic is more powerful, responsive and fuel-efficient than the outgoing 1.9 dCi engine, featuring all the latest diesel engine technologies, including piezo-electric injectors, 1,600-bar common rail, fixed-geometry turbocharger and new-generation combustion chamber.

The 2.0 dCi offers excellent response throughout its operating range, from low engine speeds up to the maximum of 4,000 rpm. Some 90% of maximum torque is available from 1,500 rpm up to 3,250 rpm. These characteristics ensure power, comfort and safety.

With cabin noise a key design issue, the new engine implements various vibration-damping features, such as an aluminium bedplate, a long cast-iron crankcase skirt and specially designed oil sump and timing cover. The engine also uses a chain-driven timing gear, for enhanced reliability and durability without compromising acoustic performance.

Equipment & Options

Standard specification on Trafic include: air-conditioning, trip computer, a three-button key for ease of entry, one touch front windows and electric mirrors, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), single-CD audio with fingertip remote control, remote central locking with deadlocking and immobiliser.

Customers also have the ability to order a range of factory fitted options ranging from metallic paint, differing seating configurations, side window to ESP, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and wipers and front fog lights.

2007 Renault Master

2007 Master (Phase 3)

  • Exterior Design Changes
  • Cabin Upgrades
  • Revised Model Line Up
  • ‘Quickshift’ Transmission Standard

Exterior Design Changes

New Master also features a new, more robust radiator grille design in line with the rest of the light commercial range. The new front bumper has a 10% larger air inlet.

Cabin Upgrades

In addition to new cloth trim the cabin of the new Master has also benefited from the addition of a number of new storage facilities: two overhead parcel shelves with 5-litre capacity for notepads, clipboard etc. and a two-litre cubby on the centre gearshift console. Additional anchorage points in the loading area have also been added.

Revised Model Line Up

The 2007 Master model line-up consists of four models: Short wheelbase low roof (L1H1), Mid-wheelbase mid-roof (L2H2), Long-wheelbase mid-roof (L3H2) and Long-wheelbase cab-chassis (L3H0).

2.5 dCi Diesel And Quickshift Transmission Standard

All Master models now come standard with Renault’s six-speed, semi-automatic transmission – Quickshift

The ‘Quickshift’ technology combines the performance and operating economy of a manual gearbox with the ease of use of an automatic transmission.

The ‘Quickshift’ transmission incorporates key safety and comfort features such as:

  • a "kickdown" function allowing rapid downshifting in urgent situations (avoidance, overtaking, sudden braking) and greater transmission responsiveness
  • easier parking, thanks to a transmission which allows movement at idling speed, sometimes known as "creeping". In first and reverse gears, the vehicle moves at idling speed after the brake pedal and/or handbrake is released. This function also allows the vehicle to be held steady on a shallow gradient and facilitates smoother hill starts.

In automatic mode, which switches between auto-adaptive characteristic curves using fuzzy logic, each gearchange occurs at maximum torque. Engine efficiency is always ideal and there is no over-revving. Fuel consumption can be reduced by up to 8% compared to a conventional manual gearbox.

The 2.5 litre dCi diesel engine produces 88 kW @ 3,500rpm (up from 74kW) and maximum torque of 300 Nm from 1,600rpm.

Equipment & Options

Standard specifications on Master include: air-conditioning, cruise-control, trip computer, a three-button key for ease of entry, one touch front windows and electric mirrors, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), single-CD audio with fingertip remote control, remote central locking with deadlocking and immobiliser. Master load volume ranges from 8m³ (L1H1) to 12.6m³ (L3H2).

Customers also have the ability to order: ESP, rear parking sensors, an increased GVM option, an adjustable passenger seat and a range of metallic paints.
