Suzuki's Strong Sales Start
5th February, 2009
Suzuki has started 2009 strongly, increasing market share and narrowly
missing out on securing a record January sales result.
A total of 1,596 Suzukis were sold in January, falling just 99 vehicles short of the record January 2008 figure.
That represents a 5.9 per cent decrease year on year, against a total market that was down more than 18 per cent.
Suzuki increased its market share by almost half a percentage point, from 2.0 to 2.4 per cent.
Suzukiís fuel efficient range of light cars and compact SUVs lead the strong result, with Swift and Grand Vitara
increasing sales, despite a dramatic overall decline in both segments.
Swift sales were up 7 per cent, while the light car segment was down nearly 10 per cent. Grand Vitara sales
increased one per cent while the compact SUV market was down almost 23 per cent.
Suzuki performed strongly in almost every state. Suzuki sales were up in Western Australia, NSW, South Australia and
Tasmania, while ACT Suzuki dealers recorded a 157 per cent increase over the 2008 figure.
