Volkswagen will reveal an Amarok utility with an automatic transmission this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany (15th-25th September 2011).

It will feature an 8-speed automatic gearbox which will be available as an option from the latter part of 2012. Australian availability is at least a year away and, may in fact, not occur until early 2013.

Although the Amarok project began some time ago, Volkswagen has been quite slow in getting its act together in relation to this important option. Stay tuned to Next Car for further details on the availability of this highly desired transmission choice.
