VW Tiguan Set For 2008 Release

26th March, 2007

Volkswagen Tiguan Concept

Volkswagen will present its new Tiguan 4x4 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

The Tiguan concept made its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show last year.  Powered by a BlueTec diesel engine, Concept Tiguan is fitted with an advanced nitrogen oxide trap converter designed to reduce the oxides emitted by up to 90 per cent over current diesel units. Eye-catching details on the concept car include a unique set of 19-inch Continental tyres complete with interwoven orange tread and a bespoke interior featuring distressed leather detailing.  Measuring 4.4 metres in length, 1.85 m in width and a compact 1.6 m high the Concept Tiguan is similar in size to the VW Touran compact MPV.

The Tiguan name was the result of a poll of more than 350,000 readers of German magazines in the AutoBild group.

Australian sales of the Tiguan are expected to start in 2008 with prices and specifications being announced nearer the time.
