Almost 1 million spectators (922,500) attended the eleven DTM races last year and approximately two million watched each race "live” on German TV, thus making 2005 the most successful season so far in the DTM’s 21-year history.

Audi and Mercedes-Benz will continue a long tradition and compete against each other at the highest level in 2006, re-enacting the famous duel which thrilled spectators 70 years ago when the legendary "Silver Arrows” from Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz raced against each other.

"We will do everything we can to recapture the title from Mercedes-Benz,” said Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport.

In order to bring the prestigious DTM title back to Audi, Audi Sport has developed the Audi A4 DTM even further by adding a new V8 engine and improving the suspension and aerodynamics of the car.

This year also marks Audi’s tenth year anniversary of contesting the popular international touring car racing series. Four championship titles, 35 victories, 30 pole positions and 26 fastest race laps make Audi one of the most successful brands in DTM history.
