Porsche AG, wants to further strengthen its sales success in the world's most populous country. In the previous 2004/05 fiscal year (July 31), 526 Porsche vehicles were delivered in China – up 109 percent on the previous year. In the current 2005/06 fiscal year, the manufacturer of sporty premium vehicles is setting its sights on a new delivery record of 1,350 units. Including Hong Kong, Porsche wants to raise its sales to 1,800 units in total (PY: 1,090 units) by the end of the fiscal year. Growth will once again be driven by the Cayenne, which has already accounted for two thirds of sales in 2004/05.

"We have every reason to look optimistically towards the future in this region. Although these markets are dominated by limousines in the luxury segment, Porsche not only succeeded in increasing sales of the Cayenne, but also in boosting sport car sales. Furthermore, we also expect the new all-wheel versions of the 911 Carrera and the Cayman S to further stimulate growth substantially in China and Hong Kong," said Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO of the Stuttgart-based manufacturer, during festivities to mark the 50-year anniversary of the Porsche importer Jebsen & Co. Ltd. Nine Porsche centres currently operate in China. By the end of 2006, the number of dealers is to be increased to around 20 and thus more than doubled.

Porsche has been working with its importer Jebsen & Co. Ltd since 1955. In the presence of Wiedeking and Hans Riedel, the Board member responsible for Sales and Marketing, the anniversary in Hong Kong was celebrated with a parade comprising 50 past and present Porsche models.
