The Fiat Punto Grande has won the “2005 Golden Steering Wheel”, one of Germany’s most prestigious automotive prizes, which is awarded by a jury of car experts, celebrities from the entertainment world and racing drivers.

Organised by the weekly magazine “Bild am Sonntag”, the prize is now in its thirtieth year, and every year it awards a model in each of four different categories. The Punto Grande won the trophy for the Compact category.

The “Golden Steering Wheel” prize-giving ceremony was held yesterday, in Berlin, with over 450 guests from the worlds of German industry, trade, culture, politics and sport. Werner H. Frey, Managing Director Fiat Auto AG, collected the trophy and commented: “Winning the ‘Golden Steering Wheel’ fills us with pride and confidence, and opens an important new chapter in the history of the success of the Grande Punto and the Fiat brand.”
