Nissan will add dual airbags to all models in the Patrol Cab Chassis range from October 2006. This additional safety feature upgrades the Patrol Cab Chassis to a specification standard its main competitors can’t match.

All DX leaf-sprung and ST coil-sprung models will come with standard dual front airbags - 45-litre driver and 115-litre passenger airbag - while DX coil-sprung models are available with dual airbags as an option.

The Cab Chassis’s reputation has made it a popular choice with rural and fleet customers looking for a reliable, spacious, comfortable and rugged workhorse. The upgrade to the vehicle’s safety specifications is a direct response to feedback from Australian buyers – particularly fleet customers - as the local market accounts for 80 per cent of worldwide Patrol Cab Chassis sales.

Powered by an intercooled turbo diesel 4.2-litre engine, the Patrol Cab Chassis produces a massive 360Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm and 114kW of power. The standard transmission is Nissan’s five-speed manual and a limited slip differential is also standard on all models.

Pricing starts at $49,790* for the leaf-sprung DX. The coil-sprung DX is priced from $50,180*, with the optional dual airbags an additional $1,000. The top-spec ST model Patrol Cab Chassis is priced from $52,890*.

According to Nissan Australia’s General Manager of Marketing, Ross Booth, the Patrol Cab Chassis is a popular model with Nissan’s fleet and rural customers. “The Patrol Cab Chassis has a great reputation as a vehicle that will get the job done,” Mr Booth said.

“The inclusion of dual airbags is an important safety feature that is unique at this price in the large 4x4 cab chassis class. We are responding directly to customer feedback and we’re sure this will be appreciated by all prospective Patrol Cab Chassis owners.”

*Recommended retails price excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs.
