2005 BMW 3-series - E90
693 units of the 2005 BMW 3-series were sold in August.
But the competition is stronger than ever.
Can BMW hold the competitors at bay for much longer?

9th September, 2005

BMW Group Australia enjoyed sales success in August, in line with record results posted around the world.

BMW delivered 1,637 new vehicles in August, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries’ statistician VFACTS. This is the second best month for BMW in Australia. In July 2000, 1,679 sales were fuelled by pent-up pre-GST demand.

Mini supplied 173 new cars, bringing its tally for the year to 1,399, a full 49.8 percent higher than the same time last year.

BMW Motorrad also enjoyed record levels of motorcycle sales. With 137 two-wheeled machines delivered in August, totalling 865 for the year, this is a remarkable rise of 12.6 percent compared with the same period last year.

The BMW sales success in August was aided by the BMW 1 Series securing 229 new owners, and demand for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan drove sales to 693 units.

The new 2005 7 Series also outsold its closest rival in August.

The X5 Sports Activity Vehicle with 245 sales and the X3 adding 74 sales.

BMW is on target to beat last year’s record 14,680 sales. Year-to-date BMW in Australia has sold 10,401 vehicles, 5.6 percent higher than at the same time last year, despite the run-out of its most important model during the second quarter.

BMW Group sales around the world continue to run at similarly high rates with BMW in the United States celebrating its best sales month ever with 25,537 BMW (a rise of 15 percent compared with 2004) and 3,342 Mini vehicles (up 43 percent) reaching owners.

Year-to-date, BMW Group Sales in the US of 200,562 vehicles are four percent stronger than the same period last year.

BMW Group Australia’s high-performance launch strategy continues in high gear through to year’s end.

Leading the charge is the V10-powered 373 kW M6 supercar, backed up by the 195 kW 130i hot-shot compact, the 530d turbo-diesel Sedan and X3 3.0d turbo-diesel all-wheel drive.

In addition, four new V8 powered cars: 540i, 550i and 650i Coupé and Convertible all arrive prior to Christmas.
